Heritage Museum in Zell am Ziller

Zillertal Regional Museum

The "Ental" farm was built in 1713 (confirmed by a date on the ridge pole) in Burgstall near Schwendau.

In 1991, it was decided to move this centuries-old and culturally important building from its original location and rebuild it, now as a museum, in Zell am Ziller.

Zillertal Gold Mine

Gold in Zell and the Ziller Valley

The subterranean world is combined with a fascinating walk, starting out from the cheesery (open to the public), cheese museum and animal park.  Visitors then head out past the Flörlmoos chapel and Hainzenberg heritage museum, continuing past the Maria Rast pilgrimage chapel and through the forest, until reaching the starting point for visits to the gold mine - the conclusion of this adventure-filled excursion is the so-called "Knappensäule", where the miners of old used to thank the Virgin Mary for keeping them safe in the mine.

Deanery Church

Built in honour of St. Vitus (one of the 14 auxiliary saints) between 1772 - 1779, at a time when a major flood had swept away all but the church tower.

One of the most beautiful Baroque structures in Austria with an octagonal design and a mighty dome, ceiling frescoes and altar panels by Franz Anton Zeiller from Reutte.

The figures were carved by "Nissl" from Fügen. Very atmospheric cemetery with cast-iron crosses and two outstandingly made tombstones with family coats of arms.

Maria Rast

A little church called "Maria Rast".

Talbach Waterfall

The waterfall is located between Laimach and Zellberg and can be reached from Zell as part of a leisurely hike taking approx. 45 mins.
